Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.

God help the next person that wants to meet me somewhere in Cary, NC.

Now, I don’t often say this, being a woman myself–but clearly, a woman designed Cary’s road system.

I once heard someone describe the way a man thinks as a hallway with many doors, each thought neatly compartmentalized in each room, each thought separate from the others. On the other hand, a woman’s thoughts are like a tangled ball of yarn, each crisscrossing and meshing with the others. Each has its benefits and drawbacks, of course–but the roads in your brain should NEVER look like the road to Food Lion.

I mean, even fractals have some sort of pattern. If I could even get a glimpse of the overarching structure, I wouldn’t be so bad off. But here’s what I found when I looked up Cary’s road map online:

From now on, I’m not going anywhere in Cary that can’t be directly accessed from US-1 or I-40. I’m talking one turn off the interstate, y’all.
